In recent years, the internationalized and liberalized financial economic policies pursued aggressively by the government have led to the direct promotion and vigorous development of the financial information market in this country. Just by looking at the statistics from the securities and futures markets, we can tell that there were yearly growths in the numbers of securities dealers, futures dealers, employees, investors, and transaction volume and capital circulation. In addition, as the financial products for investors globalized, their needs for international financial information have increased. Therefore we can predict that the national financial information market will enter a new era in the future.

Since the establishment of the Taipei International Financial Information Association by major financial information suppliers in Taiwan on the 20th of December, 1994, we feel the importance of the above situation and went to explore ways to assist our members to create a healthy operating environment. We therefore began to speed up the process to enhance the management of the association and to establish communication channels to cooperate with developments. We are sincerely thankful for the generous guidance given by the senior members and the close coordination between members, and we see improvements in many areas, examples are the the participating in the modification of market information management rules, fighting for the reduction of information usage charge, assisting business development for our members’ organizations, providing latest information and technology research and the development of timely information support giving overall improvement in managing association matters.

The association will keep to the directions set out in the past, spontaneous and aggressive service principles and to seek truth from facts as we make further. We will also strengthen the communication and cooperation with associated organizations, securities and futures dealers, and members’ organizations to improve the financial market system. We will be on the initiative to communicate with major associations in the same field and increase the association’s publicity and expand the spectrum of our services to fulfill the aim of “setting roots in Taiwan while getting ready for the whole world” and create the best collective future for all of us.
